Greetings! Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Vincent Calabrese and currently enjoy preparing rough amber (especially blue and fossiliferous). The website
www.ambarazul.com is an excellent source for both of these materials. One never knows what one might come across in a piece of amber. Each piece is like looking into a window to the past. This is the main reason I find amber fascinating. I desire to build a collection of a variety of inclusions and ambarazul has helped me do so. In addition, ever since I've sanded and polished pieces of rough blue amber, I have been amazed at its beauty and uniqueness. The only other area of the world that has an appreciable supply of blue amber to my understanding is southern Mexico, the state of Chiapas in particular. I have found Dominican blue to be unique in its intensity and range of blue colors as opposed to the Chiapas pieces I have prepared, showing a more diverse range of blue tones. The Dittrich family offers superb quality material and over the past 3 years since I have purchasing rough from them, I have been quite pleased overall. Mr. Dittrich (Hermann) has been consistently helpful and kind and his prices are very fair compared to what I have seen on other websites. If you are not pleased for some reason, he will try to make it right.
